File Transfer Engineer

PeerSource is currently recruiting for a File Transfer Engineer on a Direct Hire basis for our client in Gulfport, MS.

Summary

This role focuses on the engineering, delivery, and maintenance of file transfer systems, primarily using IBM Sterling Integrator/File Gateway and other Managed File Transfer tools. It involves designing integration solutions, ensuring efficient data exchange across channels, and maintaining security standards to protect data integrity. The position requires collaborative efforts across teams and with external partners to support system enhancements, resolve incidents, and streamline processes for optimal operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement integration solutions with the IBM MFT Suite, including configuring file transmission solutions that meet specific business requirements.
• Oversee and ensure the secure exchange of data, maintaining adherence to corporate and industry standards to mitigate risks associated with data breaches.
• Monitor file transfers, maintain documentation, troubleshoot issues, and correct problems with existing automation and procedures to ensure smooth data movements.
• Support data movement solutions, including ETL processes, and provide technical assistance for file transfer systems, offering tier 2 support and on-call troubleshooting.
• Work collaboratively with business lines, development architecture teams, and vendors to evaluate and influence technical strategies, improving the enterprise's data movement capabilities.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to design, test, and implement efficient file transfer workflows, while also preparing cost and time estimates for projects.
• Review and process file transmission requests, partnering with various business lines to tailor transfer methods that align with business objectives.
• Provide consultation on analytic capabilities and integrated data assets, helping to refine and advance the organization's vision for enterprise data movement.
• Assist in developing strategic directions for file movement operations, supporting leadership in achieving departmental goals and enhancing overall business efficiency.
• Influence and recommend technological advancements and best practices in file movement, coordinating with the architecture team and external vendors to adopt suitable processes.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of related data transfer experience, specifically working with IBM Sterling File Transfer products.
• Strong knowledge in administration and management of IBM Sterling File Gateway, IBM Sterling Secure proxy, IBM Control center and IBM Sterling External Authentication
• Proficient in building services, adapters and configuring property files to implement file transfer solutions.
• Experience in file transfer protocol – SSH/SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, AS2, Connect Direct etc.
• Knowledge of the following: BPML, Unix scripting, Windows scripts, Rest API, Sterling Integrator/Gentran, Mailboxes, Certificates, Pub Keys, Adaptors, Clients, Business Process, and Encryption.
• Overall Industry knowledge of B2B file transfer protocol and strategic mindset on delivering enterprise capabilities, with an understanding of strategy and tactical views / planning processes.
• Experience in installation and maintenance of a clustered environment for high availability.
• Expertise on building the out of box reports and custom reports on IBM control center and SFG/SI
• B.S. in technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
• Prior coding and development experience a plus.
