Habitar Design (habitardesign.com) in Chicago is seeking a full-time Construction Project Manager to help run their busy interior architecture, construction & design business. This role will focus on running and managing construction of the projects, creating and managing project plans, managing vendors and suppliers, supervising staff and more.


Prefer candidates who have hands-on construction experience and extensive experience remodeling homes to include bathrooms & kitchens.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Analyse renovation plans and bid and do take-offs according to the company's systems
  • Respond to customer requests providing information on bid and project progress.
  • Manage project approvals by clients, vendors, and building management.
  • Manage material orders and logistics.
  • Monitor projects and update project records to reflect progress, credits and extras.
  • Assist onsite in-house teams with problem solving and logistics issues.
  • Manage vendors and subs, inspecting work and approving payments.
  • Track and Complete punch lists and manage client concerns.
  • Respond to customer requests providing project proposals and bids
  • Visit properties with clients to discuss renovations or projects as required
  • Draft a detailed scope of work and manage project budget
  • Create a detailed schedule and ensure the project is delivered on time
  • Work with subs to get bids, inspect work and approve payments
  • Ensure subs have all information and materials needed to accomplish their tasks
  • Develop working relationships with a wide range of subcontractors in your area
  • Facilitate design review and build planning meetings
  • Complete site inspections to ensure conformance to design specifications and building codes
  • Review contractor performance for conformance to contract and authorize invoices for payment
  • Manage workflow, oversee the completion of activities and communicate progress to stakeholders.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Residential Construction Management or related field preferred
  • 5+ years' experience managing construction or an architecture degree with a strong desire to manage architectural projects.
  • Strong analytical and personal skills
  • Strong mathematical skills with familiarity with spreadsheets
  • A great positive attitude
  • Experience with Bluebeam and Sketch up a plus
