Job DescriptionThe Associate Director, Regulatory Affairs US Advertising and Promotion is responsible for setting strategy, leading cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams, and executing multidivisional initiatives. Envisions the future by leveraging global marketplace, technology, and business knowledge. Collects and analyzes issues and trends affecting the business, identifies cross-organization opportunities, and possesses broad industry knowledge. ResponsibilitiesMake operational decisions and plans, including workflow, assignments, and staff development.
Lead cross-functional teams and multidivisional initiatives. Maintain and evaluate productivity metrics to project business needs. Establish effective communication with Medical, Marketing, Regulatory, Legal, and Public Affairs teams. Develop process / policy improvements and lead initiatives.
Assist in managing departmental budget, projecting expenditures, and communicating needs. Analyze issues / trends to identify opportunities, using knowledge of global marketplace, technology, and business. Operate independently, escalating risks when necessary. Manage day-to-day operations in the absence of the Director.
Encourage innovation, mentor staff, and recognize performance and development. Maintain solid understanding of regulations, industry practices, and the political / legal climate related to advertising and promotions. Develop and implement complex processes and projects, and prepare strategic presentations for senior management. Identify process improvements and lead related initiatives.
The preferred location for local candidates is at AbbVie's Mettawa, IL office on a hybrid schedule. Remote work may be considered for non-local candidates. QualificationsBachelor's Degree in science (biology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, medical technology, pharmacy, pharmacology, nursing) Relevant Master's, Ph. D., or legal degree preferred Certification a plus 8 years of industry-related experience preferred Experience in pharmaceutical industry with emphasis on RA strategy or US Advertising and Promotion preferred Experience in complex, matrix environments Strong communication skills (oral and written) Experience developing global regulatory strategies Management experience preferred Additional InformationThe compensation range is estimated based on job grade and may vary depending on location and other factors.
