Metallurgical Engineer

Metallurgical Quality Engineer will be responsible for supporting the daily quality activities including order setup, inspection, testing, ensuring quality system compliance, reduction of waste/non-conforming material, and metallurgical product improvement to make the highest quality product/steel.

Metallurgical Quality Engineer Responsibilities:

• with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• part of the Quality Team, work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and other technical resources to drive results and improvement in the quality metrics.
• the ability to work effectively within a team environment, utilizing clear and effective communication skills.
• metallurgical and technical support for product and process improvement through data analysis, problem-solving, metallurgical and mechanical concepts, and knowledge of customer operations and markets.
• the order design and review activities including approving incoming new orders, setting product capabilities, changing/improving existing order process designs, and creating/following product trials.
• technical solutions and material selection recommendations for internal and external customers by understanding manufacturing and product capability.
• customer specifications/requirements and develops and implements the product chemistry and manufacturing recipes necessary to satisfy those requirements.
• field sales personnel in the resolution of any major quality issues.
• communicates customer problems to management and the workforce.
• in the development of corrective actions.
• the mill's quality performance and assists in continuous improvement

Metallurgical Quality Engineer Requirements:

• Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science or equivalent working experience.
• (5)+ years of previous experience in an industrial, or related environment.
• knowledge of plate metallurgical principals and steel defect origins.
• verbal and written communication skills.
• be familiar with the Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
• skills and the ability to operate effectively within a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Metallurgical Quality Engineer Preferred Qualifications:

• (3) years experience in hot rolling/plate process.
• knowledge of plate products and customer specifications, especially API.
• success in defining and resolving problems.
• analytical skills.
