Job Description:
We are seeking a strong Senior-level Systems Engineer to come in as a LEAD Systems Engineer supporting our client's enterprise systems engineering efforts. This Lead Systems Engineer is ultimately going to be responsible for the architecture, engineering, implementation, testing, and documenting of systems and components commensurate with their experience under the limited supervision of other engineering staff in support of systems engineering efforts. This person should be a subject matter expert (SME) in Microsoft Systems, preferably Azure, Microsoft Office 365 (O365), and Entra ID administration, automation, and integration including Conditional Access. The goal is to turn m365 and azure into a platform for other teams to use. Should be well versed with PKI and also understand modern practices in/around microsoft 365 and Azure.

We ideally want to find somebody with strong technical expertise in systems/systems engineering with the ability to participate in BOTH highly technical AND business-geared discussions relative to future enterprise /organizational direction. This person will need to have outstanding interpersonal and rapport-building capabilities, as they'll be tasked with providing strategic consulting to business and IT leaders, alike.

Must be able to understand and be able to speak to people who are technical and translate those technical terms to business stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment. The individual hired will work closely with business leaders to understand business requirements and help them understand how technology trade-offs influence strategy.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Review and analyze complex process and system specifications
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for one or more (ideally all) of the following areas ( Azure, M365, and Entra ID)
  • Designs, implements, customizes, and maintains solutions to vendor and industry best practices (in particular, Microsoft best practices)
  • Recommends and leads implementation of enhancements and updates adherence to Change Management processes
  • Lead/Co-lead internal project/program-level process improvement initiatives. Provide feedback on processes by offering suggestions
  • Implements and updates monitoring tools
  • Champion the collaborative resolution of defects
  • Informally mentor more junior staff
  • Assist with adherence to technology policies and comply with all security controls
  • Ensure all work products meets /exceeds our client's standards


Education & Required Professional Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline with at least eight (8) years of related experience, or equivalent training and/or work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects as committed with limited oversight
  • Significant experience with Microsoft M365 administration, automation, and integration with the ability to go technically deep across M365 services, actively seek solutions to customer needs, and communicate trends to leadership.
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Entra ID administration , automation, and integration including Conditional Access
