Certified Phlebotomist

Job: Phlebotomist IV

Duration – 3 months (-possible extension )

Location: :Silver spring MD

Schedule: Monday - Friday 0730am-0430pm; e/o Saturday 0730am - 1130p

Vaccines required: TB, Hep B

Important note:

They will be drawing majority of their shift. They will be drawing A LOT of children so we are looking for someone with 4-5 years of experience with pediatrics. This is a must. 4-5 years of drawing/Phlebotomy experience

Job Description:

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, trouble shooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.

Need and Responsibilities:

• How many draws are required daily? 20-40
• What is the work environment? (Patient service center, doctor’s office) PSC
• If this is a patient service center, how big is the location? Fairly large
• How long is the worker expected to stand? most of their shift
• Are there any specialties? (Pediatric, geriatric) PEDIATRICS

Education:

• High School Diploma
