What are we looking for in our OpenSource Advocate?
Title: OpenSource Advocate
Duration: 4+ months (possibility of extension)
Location: based out of Mountain View, CA, San Francisco, CA, San Diego, CA (Hybrid)
Rate: $45 - $56/hr on w2 (Depend on experience)
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
You will be responsible for advocating and liaising with the broader community ecosystem for open-source projects, coordinating with stakeholders to raise brand awareness and profile in these communities. You will also drive programs to encourage open source project creation and contribution.
This role is at the cutting edge of AI/MLOps, cloud-native, open-source technologies, developer experiences, and API platforms (REST and GraphQL). You will work closely with product management, developer marketing, technical learning, and engineering teams to drive awareness around technologies such as Kubernetes, Argo, Istio, public cloud, observability and scalable distributed systems.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON:
Build and maintain tools that ease producing and releasing Open Source software to
Work closely with partners and open source communities, such as CNCF, GraphQL Foundation, to coordinate dev events, content ideas, marketing collateral and new initiatives
Create developer facing documentation and training materials around contributing to open source and maintaining open source projects
Interface with open source communities to understand problems and trends in the market
Create tools to automatically analyze and report on Open Source repositories trends and statistics
Drive the editorial calendar and support the team’s creation of content around open source engagements and products
Skills:
DESIRED:
Measurable success enabling developers through hands-on workshops and labs
Shared documented code and content to support/enable other developers
Seasoned and enthusiastic presenter at events and/or via YouTube, Webinars, or Live Streams
High AI proficiency and general knowledge
BONUS:
Bonus points if you are familiar with different Open Source licenses and Contributor License Agreements

Interview Process:
1st round: 30 minutes
2nd round- 60-90 minutes
Education:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
You have a record of being an active contributor (i.e. code, bugs, design, documentation) to at least one influential open source project
Strong understanding of software development technologies, frameworks, and tools.
Proven experience in developer advocacy, technical evangelism, or a related role.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product management, training, and engineering
Experience in creating effective developer-focused contenStrong presentation skills, with ability in conducting live streams, or public speaking at events
