Our national client is seeking a STRONG and STRATEGIC people leader to oversee HR for a ~850 associate operated facility in Union Springs, Alabama. This is the #1 HR role in the facility and will be leading a large team of HR professionals. Please see below for more details. This facility is unionized, so strong labor experience is a must.


Position Summary:

The Human Resource Manager is a key member of the leadership team, offering strategic guidance on complex human capital policies and initiatives. This role ensures smooth HR operations and compliance with company policies, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.


Responsibilities:


  • Policy and Program Development: Lead the creation and implementation of HR policies, guiding leadership to support company objectives and meet legal standards.
  • HR Team Leadership: Direct HR activities across staffing, employee relations, and organizational development to align with company goals.
  • Leadership Collaboration: Build trust with leadership to support staffing, compensation, training, and compliance strategies.
  • Training and Development: Provide HR training on areas like performance management and employee relations.
  • Risk Mitigation: Work with Corporate HR, Legal, and Compliance teams to address issues proactively.
  • Program Support: Partner with departments to drive engagement, diversity, talent management, and change initiatives.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Collaborate on the development of talent attraction, retention, and rewards programs.
  • Recruitment and Succession Planning: Develop recruitment and talent pipelining strategies to support company growth and retention.
  • Data Analysis: Use organizational data to identify needs and provide proactive solutions.
  • Employee Mentorship: Coach and train employees to support career growth, offering constructive feedback.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and communicate opportunities to streamline HR processes.
  • Union and Employee Relations: Address employee complaints and ensure compliance with union agreements as needed.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned.


Supervisor Responsibilities:

Leads a team with required competencies in planning, delegation, customer focus, and conflict management.


Education and Certifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP preferred


Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience, with 1 year in a manufacturing or similar environment preferred.
  • Proven leadership and knowledge of conflict resolution, policy adherence, and HR program success.
  • Expertise in multiple HR areas, including compensation, performance management, and employment law.
  • Effective communicator with strong collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
