Utilities Technician

Must Haves:

• 5+ years of hands on mechanical technician experience
• Experience working in a critical facility
• Mechanical aptitude with background reading technical manuals, conducting work order based fixes, troubleshooting general maintenance tasks
• Detail oriented with strong understanding of regulatory compliance and safety protocols
• Good technical writing skills and strong communication

Plusses:

• Experience working in a life sciences environment
• Experience conducting water testing
• Experience working in central utilities

Day to day:

As a Sr. Utilities Technician, you will be given a schedule at the beginning of the week with your general maintenance tasks to complete. The work orders must be completed by the assigned due date but you will have the flexibility to work through the schedule as you please. As a technician at one of the largest BioPharm companies, you must follow all safety and compliance regulations. Types of maintenance may include vibration assessments, checking water quality, checking cooling pumps, general plumbing work, painting, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for maintaining the site heating system which includes low-pressure boilers, high pressure boilers, power boilers and steam boilers
• Perform routine maintenance on the site heating equipment and supporting systems
• Maintain and replace valves, filters, steam gauges, turbines, pumps, compressors, water lines, steam lines, piping and other related systems
• Observe pressure, temperature and draft meters on panel to verify specified operation of automatic combustion control systems, feed water regulators, and burners
• Inspect water, gas, and other fluid levels and adjust as needed
• Adjust valves and boiler controls as needed to control the amount of pressure
• Maintain and update service data logs
• Provide support during facility shut down times
