We are seeking an Engineering Manager for a fantastic Rockford area manufacturer with a reputation for being a stable, profitable, market leader In this role, you will work crossfunctionally with multiple areas of the business, including working closely with Project Management and customers to verify manufacturability, and ensure that all customer specifications are met, while maintaining the highest standards of quality. You will have responsibility for a team of mechanical designers and will be responsible for signing off and checking all drafts, designs, change orders, BOM's etc.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of 12-15 Mechanical Designers, Analysts, and Estimators.
  • Maintain and optimize Engineering schedules to meet project deadlines.
  • Generate comprehensive bills of materials (BOMs), oversee project drawings and part number assignments.
  • Develop Operation and Maintenance Manuals for completed projects.
  • Offer technical assistance to Customer Service, Sales, and Manufacturing teams, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Issue and manage engineering change orders, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct equipment inspections to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Collaborate with vendors to source components and obtain competitive quotes.
  • Review and enhance layout drawings for both new and existing products.
  • Act as a liaison between Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Applications Engineering, and Product Management teams to evaluate design parameters and optimize project costs.
  • Utilize system costing programs and historical data to estimate project costs accurately.
  • Assess customer plans and specifications to verify manufacturability and identify any potential challenges.
  • Monitor and adjust Estimating schedules and personnel assignments as needed.
  • Drive innovation by developing retrofits and redesigns for existing products.
  • Maintain and update costing databases, creating detailed spreadsheets and supporting calculations.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate team members, addressing any performance issues promptly.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and a talent for strategic planning and organization.
