Sr. Cyber Security Engineer (Atlanta, GA)


The Sr. Security Engineer is responsible for the management and support of security protection tools such as endpoint detection and response (EDR), network detection and response (NDR), security information and event management (SIEM), network access control (NAC), email gateway, next-generation firewall (Palo Alto), intrusion detection, vulnerability management, and user access provisioning. The engineer should be able to work with the Security Architect and the Infrastructure team during the testing and implementation of security tools. In order to be successful in this role, the candidate needs to be able to work on multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment and be able to learn quickly.


We are looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, information assurance, or related discipline; five years of experience in information technology, and six years of security engineering experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. The right candidate will have a good Security and/or IT certification such as GIAC is strongly recommended.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Defines manages and leads the lifecycle of security infrastructure and technology tools to include change control, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, capacity planning, and performance management.
  • Monitor, diagnose, troubleshoot and, resolve issues involving security technology tools for abnormal user behavior and policy violations.
  • Supports security incident response activities consisting of identifying new issues, gathering information, remediating issues, and reporting to appropriate individuals.
  • Implements security-related projects such as security application upgrades, identity and access management, single sign-on/password administration, and other security initiatives.
  • Communicates security and technical advisories and bulletins of potential security threats due to vulnerable software from technology vendors.
  • Performs validation testing of applied security patches, configuration changes and system hardening.
  • Performs administrative tasks associated with project management, reporting, technical documentation and procedures. Assists security manager in developing and maintaining project plans.
  • Identifies, evaluates and recommends changes to update or replace existing security technology.

  • A thorough understanding of troubleshooting and logic along with a comprehensive knowledge of computers, networks, and system software
  • Knowledge of capacity planning and performance monitoring and tuning
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience defending or conducting network penetration testing is beneficial
