Position Objective:The primary responsibility of a winder is to rewind various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Inspects various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctionsTest condition of windings according to industry standards / customer specificationsIllustrate and/or document all relevant data specific to unit's electro-magnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage, or intended serviceabilityDismantle and/or strip damaged or unserviceable electro-mechanical equipmentPrepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusable conditionsRewind various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment, including but not limited to: three-phase, DC fields, armatures, wound rotor and transformers. Observe proper insulating techniques and/or requirements during rewindingTest rewound electro-mechanical equipment according to industry standards/customer specificationsComplete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basisOperate specialized repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, bake ovens, grinders, cranes, forklift trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems, and various handheld power and non-power toolsComply with all company policies / procedures and perform all job functions in an ethical mannerObserve all safety procedures and use proper protective gear for all tasksResponsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area free of hazards as directed by supervisorComplete all required safety trainingPerforms all applicable duties in accordance with ISO procedures, if requiredPerform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisorExperience/Skills:Ability to successfully complete all required training, in-house/offsiteMust be willing work evenings and/or weekends, if requiredPossess valid identificationBe able to operate motor vehicles in compliance with all state and federal requirements, if travel requiredForklift and overhead crane certification requiredQuick troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsBasic/Experienced mechanic knowledgeBasic computer skillsGood communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to read, write and follow work instructionsAbility to interface with co-workers and customersAbility to prioritize, organize and meet deadlinesTeam player attitude with the ability to work with minimal supervisionAdditional Job DetailsEducation:High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceEqual Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action at Nidec Nidec is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
