Job Description *

An insurance company located in the Katy, Texas area is seeking an iSeries administrator to join its IT organization. The ideal candidate would have a strong background in iSeries system administration, including system configuration, maintenance, security and performance testing. This role will involve collaborating with other internal and third party IT teams/stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation and optimal performance of the iSeries environment.


Responsibilities

1. Configure, install, and maintain IBM iSeries hardware and software components.

2. Perform system upgrades, patches, and fixes as necessary to maintain system security and stability.

3. Monitor system performance and resource utilization, identifying and resolving performance issues to ensure optimal system performance.

4. Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings to ensure data integrity and compliance with organizational policies and regulations.

5. Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for iSeries systems.

6. Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate iSeries systems with other enterprise systems and services.

7. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users and other IT staff as needed.

8. Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to facilitate knowledge sharing and training.

9. Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies related to iSeries administration.
