Job Description

This individual should be knowledgeable in both chemistry and physics and capable of contributing to innovative discussions and brainstorming sessions needed to develop new products or improve existing product performance and quality as well as defining product cost reduction strategies.

These product development efforts should also be designed with robustness in mind for eventual transfer for the manufacturing of commercial quantities of the new products. Furthermore, the individual should be able to communicate on the status of current projects to include progress and pinch-points, forward-thinking concepts, ideas, and strategies.

Job Requirements/Duties:

• Being well versed in the current surfactant market, knowing who the manufacturers are and what they make as well as having points of contact within the manufacturing company
• Understanding where surfactants can be included in product formulations to improve product performance or reduce product cost
• Understanding the blending strategies between various surfactants and solvents to optimize product performance
• Understanding the principals necessary to prepare emulsions and suspensions
• Capable of measuring properties related to surfactants alone or blends of surfactants and the effect those properties have on the performance of the product.
• Skills in the interpretation of analytical data pertaining to resulting product blends as well as occasional unknown samples
• Capable of conducting the associated application testing using specific testing equipment to qualify, validate or support the benefit of new products

Requirements

• Advanced Degree (PHD preferable)
• 5 years of industrial experience in organic synthesis
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Oilfield chemicals industry experience is a plus
