Litigation Paralegal

This is a full-time litigation paralegal position, in our Coralville office, which may involve assignments from several lawyers and practice areas including workers compensation and general litigation.


General Duties:

  • Scheduling hearings and depositions
  • Requesting records from medical providers, social security, tax records, employers
  • Create summaries, chronologies (tax, medical, etc)
  • Communicate with opposing counsel’s office regarding discovery, hearings and other issues
  • Working with employers and insurance companies to gather documents and prepare discovery responses
  • Analyze payroll records and calculate workers compensation benefit rates
  • Draft various notices and settlement documents

Required Skills:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Aptitude for and willingness to learn and master electronic recording and online records
  • Ability to adjust to competing deadline demands and prioritize work
  • Ability to share work responsibilities with other staff
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with clients and other

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 2-year certificate from a recognized paralegal program is preferred but not necessary
