Wireless Firmware Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your knowledge of C, Linux kernel mode development, and network device drivers to bring up new prototypes and future AR/VR products on the latest, highest performing wireless networking hardware.
  • Utilize your understanding of IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and network organization and routing algorithms to improve the performance and scale of the Meta wireless network.
  • Work with the rest of the embedded software development teams to understand the application software being built on top of WiFi, and suggest ways in which the higher-level software may make most efficient use of the underlying network.
  • Work closely with the Hardware and Software teams to optimize AR/VR platform performance.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Computer Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in C programming.
  • 5+ years of experience developing, optimizing, and maintaining embedded systems.
  • Extensive experience in Linux kernel development and debugging.
  • Deep understanding of IEEE 802.11/wireless or mesh networking.
  • Deep understanding of WiFi-5/6 technologies, and AP and station behavior.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with external vendor(s) to integrate and troubleshoot issues with 802.11 radio chips and Linux device driver SDKs.
  • Experience with wireless protocol analyzers and 802.11 packet decode.
  • Experience using formal development processes and tools.
  • Solid track record of shipping reliable, extensible and maintainable software.
  • Strong collaborative and cross-functional team communication skills.
