We are looking for a passionate, business-savvy, and resourceful Senior Legal Employment Counsel, to join the legal team. In this role you will focus on U.S. employment-related matters and advise internal stakeholders and our HR team on a wide range of employment issues, including hiring practices, performance management and employment law compliance. We are looking for someone who is well versed in state and federal employment laws and can provide legal advice and practical solutions. This position is based in our Sunnyvale office.



Duties:

  • Provide substantive area expertise on a broad range of employment issues in the U.S., including hiring, recruiting, termination, wage and hour, diversity, leave and disability accommodation, employee benefits, discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims, and workplace safety and security.
  • Support and collaborate with the U.S. HR team by handling compliance and employee issues, internal investigations, audits, pre-dispute conflicts and other employment matters.
  • Draft and review employment-related contracts, such as employment agreements, and severance packages.

  • Provide legal guidance on the development and update of company policies, training, and procedures in compliance with federal and state employment laws.
  • Review and respond to internal claims, demand letters, audits, and other employment-related inquiries or litigation matters.
  • Stay abreast of changes in employment laws and regulations to advise the company proactively.


Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Current California State bar membership.
  • At least 3 years of substantive employment law experience preferably with an in-house legal department (open to direct law firm experience).
  • Excellent communication skills and business judgement
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • High integrity and professionalism.
  • Experience managing outside counsel and legal budgets preferred.
