Responsibilities

  • Ensure all shipments comply with export laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and submit export documentation, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, and customs declarations.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and logistics providers to arrange shipment of goods by rail, ocean, and air.
  • Negotiate shipping rates and contracts to secure the best routes and prices.
  • Track shipment progress, addressing any issues like delays or damages.
  • Communicate shipment status with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Offer guidance on export regulations and requirements to internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage workflows to optimize departmental productivity.
  • Monitor and audit export files for compliance, profitability, and process adherence.
  • Manage relationships with export authorities, clients, and suppliers across various countries.
  • Handle dangerous goods shipments and ensure compliance with AES and FMC regulations.
  • Maintain and update local pricing records and carrier documentation.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in international trade, logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in export operations, specifically in rail, ocean, and air freight forwarding.
  • Familiarity with international and domestic freight procedures, as well as trucking and warehouse services.
  • Knowledge of export regulations and customs documentation processes.
  • Awareness of dangerous goods handling protocols.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
