POSITION

We are looking for an experienced buyer for our Dalton based manufacturing/office site for the carpet and flooring industries.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Ensure assigned purchase orders are processed with proper terms & conditions and within our policy & procedures.

-Responsible to the Purchasing Manager for the procurement of supplies and/or equipment for all departments

-Meet with vendors to continue developments, negotiate prices, discuss service, quality or other matters.

-In conjunction with the Purchasing Manager, develop and investigate new sources of supply, make recommendations as to their approval. Dual source of supply for every major raw material.

-Maintain effective relationship with all departments to present alternatives offered by suppliers, modification of design, standardization of parts or material, or other matters of mutual concern.

-Work from/with engineering requests for components for new programs.

-Obtain quotes, negotiate with vendors, source items with vendors, follow and expedite delivery.

-Creates, maintains updated product/vendor information.

-Assists departments in defining purchasing needs and resolving associated problems.

-Acts as back-up in the absence of any additional buyers.

-Inventory management on a weekly/sometimes daily routine.


QUALIFICATIONS

Licensing or Certifications (a plus)

APICS, CPIM, CPM, CPSM, ISM, C.P.M, CSCP, MBA, CPP, SCMP


Education

Bachelor's Degree, Preferably in Business, Engineering, Education, Business/Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Manufacturing, Management, Technical, Accounting


Desired Experience

At least 7+ years buying experience, preferably in a manufacturing facility.

Preparing and presenting reports.

Exposure to implementing structured supplier evaluation procedures and RFQ processes.

Be able to wear a respirator when needed.
