Job description

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm System Designer. The ideal candidate must be adept at using AutoCAD software and have knowledge of fire alarm codes per NFPA72. We are looking for a high-energy individual who can perform various tasks for the company in addition to the main role of designing and assisting with estimating.

Duties

  • Design and develop fire alarm systems, ensuring they meet all relevant codes and standards.
  • Create detailed schematics and layouts for fire alarm systems.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Revit software to draft system designs and modifications.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to integrate fire alarm systems into building designs.
  • Conduct site inspections to assess existing fire alarm systems and recommend improvements or upgrades.
  • Walk through the permitting and plan check process with various Fire Authorities.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including submittals, reports, specifications, and operation manuals.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to fire engineering.

Qualifications

  • MUST HAVE FIRE ALARM EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for drafting and design purposes.
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm systems, wiring, schematics, and layout design.
  • Experience with fire protection (fire sprinklers) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-engineering personnel.
  • Previous experience in fire alarm engineering or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory.

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
