The Role

Are you an experienced Diesel Mechanic with the ability to troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment? Do you have a solid background in maintaining and ensuring the reliability of machinery and mechanical systems? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

We are a well-established, family-owned construction company, looking to appoint an experienced and capable (able to look at an issue and diagnose and trace it to the source) diesel mechanic to our growing team.

You will be responsible for assembling, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment such as Caterpillar and John Deere bulldozers, excavators, diesel dump trucks, and pickup trucks. Your expertise will ensure the functionality and reliability of our machines, engines, and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Perform minor and major repairs on trucks, trailers and heavy equipment.
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance on dump trucks, pickup trucks (both gas and diesel) including inspections, tire rotation and oil changes.
  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner both in the shop and on job sites.
  • Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the shop.
  • Direct, supervise and collaborate with other mechanics to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs.
  • Ensure safety standards are being met.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs performed.
  • Provide instruction on correct maintenance and preventative measures on machines to vehicle users.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned, such as painting equipment, etc.

The Candidate


  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic - at least 3 years.
  • The ability to look at an issue and diagnose and trace it to the source.
  • Excellent knowledge of machinery and corresponding systems.
  • Excellent aptitude in using various tools.
  • Excellent problem solving ability.
  • Very good physical dexterity, strength and stamina; ability to lift up to 150 lbs.
  • May need to work outdoors in all types of weather.
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship a definite plus.
  • Must have a current driver's license.
  • Ability to gain access to Camp Lejeune a definite plus.
