Graduate & Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

Fort Belvoir, United States Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area Full time

Our mission at the Consortium Research Fellows Program (CRFP) is to link graduate students and post-doctoral fellows with experts in military focused applied research. Our fellowships provide a broad continuum of research experiences, from new graduate students working closely with senior mentors who provide guidance and learning opportunities, to self-directed, complex research projects for post-doctoral fellows. The CRFP provides well compensated, long-term research fellowships that allow students and post-doctoral fellows to be immersed in applied research that enhances educational programs and career preparation.

Our current focus is on hiring student fellows in and post-doc graduates of behavioral science programs (e.g., Industrial/Organizational psychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology, experimental and general psychology, etc.) who can support the military’s talent management research. If you are interested in applied research to enhance your education or career, or if you are directing your future career aspirations to full-time applied research positions, then we strongly encourage you to apply. The current requirements are as follows:

  • Candidates MUST BE FULL U.S. CITIZENS. There are no exceptions to this requirement.
  • Student candidates must be and must remain enrolled in an accredited degree-granting program for the duration of their fellowship.
  • Post-doctoral fellow candidates must have graduated from an accredited degree-granting program within the past five (5) years.
  • Currently, our research fellows work according to a hybrid schedule that includes performing work in an office location combined with remote work.
  • Student fellowships require a one-year commitment, minimum. Many of our student research fellows remain in their fellowship for multiple years.

Current Research Fellowship Work Locations: Fort Belvoir, VA, Fort Moore, GA, Fort Cavasos, TX, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH, Fort Sam Houston, TX, Fort Leavenworth, KS.

Compensation: The hourly wage for students ranges from $18.00 to $32.00 and is determined by the student’s academic standing and program of study. Students are expected to work 20 hours per week and have the option of working 40 hours per week during summer. Post-doctoral fellows work full time, 40 hours per week, and are paid an annual salary plus a full benefits package. Annual salaries range from $86.7k to $99.2k, depending on work location.

Research Support: Graduate students will assist with research projects related to talent management. Projects will be both quantitative and qualitative in nature. Additional tasks may include assisting with research activities such as theoretical development, literature reviews, data collection, data analysis, and reporting (to include writing conference submissions, technical reports, and peer-reviewed publications). Post-doctoral fellows are expected to apply their own expertise in support of talent management research. Research topics are determined by the agency’s needs and the post-doctoral fellow’s expertise.

Qualified candidates should also have:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience and skill performing literature reviews.
  • Good oral/written communication skills.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail.
