Position Summary: Fori Automation is seeking an experienced Controls Estimator for our Sales & Estimating Department, reporting to the Director of Sales, working within the sales and estimating team. This Controls Engineering Estimator will primarily support North American programs and support quoting activities of new RFQs and Sales opportunities.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of customer standards, specifications, and line-up information to develop the controls-based portion of a comprehensive quotation and proposal.
  • Comprehension of Customer’s controls Specifications & Standards to help identify compliance and non-compliance along with alternative solution where applicable.
  • Establishing of preliminary controls BOMs and alternate components.
  • Gathering most up to date and cost-effective controls component and panel pricing.
  • Identifying more cost-effective components and cost competitive controls systems.
  • Help reviewing controls & software labor and component budgets and estimates.
  • Supporting customer review meetings and supporting onsite line-ups.
  • Preparing controls & software cost proposals utilizing best industry practices according to Fori and/or customer specifications considering the most cost-effective solution.
  • Supporting the technical and commercial based RFQ response to the customer.
  • Utilization of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work in an office setting and team environment while adhering to all company policies and regulations.
  • Sales Team interaction, review of customer specifications and cost development for all Sales groups
  • Multitasking among various projects, meetings, and daily priorities within the sales and estimating group.
  • Preparing responses to RFQs and RFIs in the form of technical descriptions and quotation, ensuring best technical and commercial solutions are being used.
  • Attending sales and marketing meetings and project review meetings as well as Job line-up meetings.

Education & Experience 

  • Must have an Electrical or Controls related Technical Degree.
  • Preferred BSEE and 5 years of relevant experience OR 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient in controls hardware and software engineering, with strong presentation skills.
  • High level competency regarding PLC based Rockwell and Siemens applications and associated controls architectures. English proficiency, Team Player.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with employees, management and customers.

Travel is approximately ~2%
