NextGen is seeking a Senior DevOps engineer to join a team building a software factory for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Senior DevOps engineer provides technical services, implementation, and support to the DevOps platform implementation team.


The position is on site in Suffolk, VA.


Responsibilities:


  • Support development of a DevOps software factory, providing technical subject matter expertise.
  • Perform Kubernetes, Istio, and other DevOps platform tool implementations and assist with platform tool operational problem resolutions.
  • Lead proof of concepts to verify, refine, and optimize platform tool implementations.
  • Contribute to the feature delivery roadmap
  • Work with the platform's tenants and government stakeholders to identify and implement additional requirements.
  • Provide implementation status to program management for quarterly reporting and ad hoc meetings.


Qualifications:


  • 5+ years of enterprise system engineering and network engineer experience.
  • 3+ years of DevOps implementation experience, including with Terraform or Ansible.
  • 2+ years of Kubernetes and Istio implementation experience.
  • Must have a Secret security clearance and Security+ (IAT Level 2) or higher certification.
  • Agile software development and CI/CD pipeline experience.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or VMWare.


Desired Qualifications:


  • PaaS experience, Docker, RHEL, and IaaS/Cloud implementation experience.
