R&D Engineer

JOB SUMMARY: The R&D Engineer will integrate into and become a contributing member of the R&D team, responsible for the development of new products and modification of existing powder and flakes. The role requires providing both technical support & service to customers, in concert with Metalor P&F Sales & Marketing. The R&D scientist will be interfacing with customers to define their needs, make standard product recommendations, & communicate their requirements to Engineering, Product Development and R&D. Regular follow-up is considered key with internal departments and then conveying progress/updates to the customer and Sales Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
• A minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or other relevant field of study..
• 5-10 years industry experience
• Working knowledge of powder metallurgy.
• Working knowledge of silver powder and silver flake production
• Working knowledge of silver powder & flake applications
• Word, Excel, and Power Point computer skills
• Customer interface & organizational skills
• Working knowledge of SAP
• Working knowledge of Minitab
• Be able to setup and run Design Of Experiments (DOE). Interpret the results and present the data in a clear and concise manner
• Problem solving skills.
• Customer service/sales skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Five or more year’s technical experience with at least three years in a Product Development function.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Providing technical support to Sales & Mktg. for key customer accounts.
• Coordinating customer projects with Sales & Mktg., R&D and engineering staff.
• Modify existing products/processes to new/existing customers in a timely fashion.
• Performing regular analysis and troubleshooting at customers’ request and producing results in a timely fashion.
• Providing training as appropriate for junior staff.
• Compliance with company policies and procedures
• Work with Sales & Mktg., Engineering & Quality to understand and resolve field issues
• Provide technical support to operations, when called upon.
• Be trained, certified as an active quality auditor.
