The Senior Copywriter will be responsible for developing ideas and supporting the Internal Advertising creative team across both Traditional and Digital media at the Wakefern Food Corp The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of both creating and inspiring innovative, effective marketing communications that both build brands and drive sales. This role reports to the VP, Advertising & Social Media and works cohesively with cross-functional marketing teams to ideate and deliver digital content.

Core Functions:

The core functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as creative ideator on a variety of projects across digital, Traditional and Retail Media
  • Distill creative briefs to concept and create innovative, forward-thinking work
  • Writing original copy and slogans for advertising campaigns and social networks maintaining brand consistency across all channels.
  • Create informative and engaging content about our products and services
  • Edit and fact-check pieces of content generated by colleagues
  • Liaise with Designers to enrich text with visual aids, like images and charts
  • Shape language and tone used in sales emails, banners and brochures
  • Partner with brand leaders to support goals with individual initiatives across all areas of creative, including products, packaging, print and social content, web, retail and more


Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in advertising, writing, marketing or journalism
  • 5-7 years of related experience within a digital creative agency developing big ideas that can be executed across all channels
  • Excellent written communication skills that can be effectively articulated across a diverse audience base
  • Creative problem solver who can incorporate new learnings into existing plans and act decisively and independently
  • Highly creative and imaginative and curious
  • Skilled in writing clear, concise and grammatically correct copy with an eye for detail
  • Have good interpersonal skills and work well in a team
  • Be able to work under pressure
  • Must have an interest in commerce, popular culture, and new advertising trends and techniques
  • Highly self-motivated and well organized
  • Experience with coming up with big ideas that can be executed across all channels
  • Excellent presentation skills and communication abilities at all levels
  • Has a complete understanding of all facets of marketing communication including television, radio, print, digital, and social
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word


Physical Demands and Work Environment:


  • Ability to sit/stand in front of a computer for long periods of time
  • Ability to participate in retail store visits
  • Ability to travel as required
