Hartford, United States Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut, Inc. Full time

Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in your community? Do you desire to contribute your skills and expertise to a noble cause? If so, we invite you to join our team of dedicated individuals as a volunteer board member for Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut.

At Goodwill, we are committed to strengthening communities by helping people with disabilities and other disadvantages maximize independence through job training and other support services. Our work is not just about providing resources but about transforming lives and creating a more inclusive society. We believe everyone deserves access to essential resources and opportunities for a better quality of life regardless of circumstances.

Our Board of Directors is crucial in guiding the organization toward success and sustainability. By joining the board, you will not only have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals within our community but also to expand your professional network, gain valuable leadership experience, and contribute to the success of an organization with 74-year proven track record of helping individuals find independence and self-sufficiency.

As a board member, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our organization, ensuring that we remain steadfast in our commitment to serving those in need. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing guidance and oversight to ensure the effective implementation of our mission.
  • Collaborating with fellow board members to develop and refine organizational policies and initiatives.
  • Engaging with stakeholders, donors, and community partners to foster meaningful relationships and support.
  • Participating in regular board meetings, committee work, and special projects as needed.

We are actively seeking individuals with diverse professional backgrounds, recognizing the immense value that each unique perspective, skill, and experience brings to our board. Whether you have a background in finance, marketing, law, fundraising, or advocacy, your insights will not only enrich our discussions but also significantly contribute to our collective impact. Please note that bylaws require that board members reside in Connecticut.

If you are interested in learning more about serving as a board member, we invite you to submit a brief statement outlining your interest in serving on the board, along with your resume or CV, to Melissa Kelly, Sr. VP of HR & External Affairs, at mkelly@gwct.org. The deadline for applications is June 3, 2024. After the deadline, our selection committee will review all applications and invite candidates to tour our campus and meet the leadership.
