Senior Mechanical/Thermal Engineer

SiLC is seeking a Senior Mechanical-Thermal Engineer with extensive industry experience in photonics packaging and electronic-photonic product design. This pivotal role encompasses the design, simulation, manufacturing, and assembly of comprehensive mechanical and thermal solutions for our cutting-edge electronic-photonic products.
Responsibilities:
- Translate product requirements to mechanical and thermal specifications of its packaging.
- Develop innovative design concepts with optimal form factors and power dissipation.
- Design a comprehensive solution, overseeing manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Conduct simulations to validate thermal and mechanical (shock and vibration) performance.
- Choose materials for enclosure, epoxies, thermal interface materials (TIM), etc., ensuring they meet product specifications and guarantee durability.
- Select appropriate photonic and electronic interfaces (connectors, windows) based on the specifications.
- Establish a test plan to ensure the final implementation meets all requirements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners to transition from prototype to mass production.
Qualifications:
- M.Sc. or PhD in mechanical engineering or related field
- 5+ years industry experience
- 3+ years of product design experience
- Proficient in Solidworks
- Familiar with Ansys Icepak and equivalent thermal simulation tools
- Comfortable with Ansys Sherlock, Ansys Mechanical, and equivalent simulation tools
- Prior experience with thermal management of optoelectronic components
- Background in analyzing dynamic thermal behavior of a system and its impact on stress profiles across material interfaces
