Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid- Onsite- 2 days per week)
Job Summary:
The Clinical Research Informatician acts as a critical link between clinicians, researchers, and data teams, focusing on advancing clinical and translational research to enhance patient care. This role involves analyzing and optimizing clinical workflows, collaborating on software development, and ensuring the efficient use of healthcare data. The ideal candidate combines clinical knowledge with health informatics expertise to develop, implement, and maintain applications and workflows that improve clinical efficiency and patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Collect, curate, and document healthcare data within a data warehouse.
- Develop, test, implement, and modify informatics tools, applications, and algorithms for healthcare data analysis.
- Apply clinical workflow knowledge to create tools and procedures that support informatics needs.
- Interface with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure the effective use of informatics software.
- Assist with the preparation of presentations, scientific publications, and grant proposals.
- Utilize self-service tools or coding languages (SQL, Python) to interpret and analyze healthcare data.
- Liaise between clinical stakeholders and technical teams to streamline data-driven healthcare solutions.
- Collaborate with software vendors and IT service providers to customize their offerings to meet healthcare facility needs.
- Optimize clinical workflows using IT solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or a clinical field (e.g., Nursing) with a Certification in Health Informatics OR a B.S. in informatics, computer science, statistics, biomedical engineering, or artificial intelligence, with certification in Health Informatics.
- Master’s Degree in a related field (Preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in clinical research, clinical informatics, and/or IT in an academic healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in clinical operations, health information management, or care management.
- Strong understanding of clinical standards, coding systems, and clinical KPIs.
- Experience with implementing new technologies in clinical settings.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or similar coding languages.
Certifications (One of these certifications Preferred):
- AMIA Health Informatics Certification (AHIC)
- Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA)
- Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS)
- Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS)
