Johnson O’Connor is a regional Public Accounting Firm located outside of Boston in Wakefield, MA. We are seeking a Billing Specialist to join our team.


The Billing Specialist Role is responsible for preparing all invoices for the Firm, managing accounts receivable, and overseeing staff time entry. This individual will coordinate with senior members of the Firm to ensure the accuracy of invoices, correspond with clients, and resolve any billing-related issues. This role offers the opportunity to work with Firm leadership in an effort of great importance. As such, integrity and confidentiality are must-have traits for a successful candidate.

Specific responsibilities include:

Preparing Invoices

  • Coordinate with partners and principals for monthly billing
  • Prepare and transmit bills
  • Manage the timing of billing with partners and principals
  • Otherwise, provide support on the Firm’s monthly billing

Manage Accounts Receivable

  • Interact with partners and principals on outstanding invoices
  • Interact with partners and principals on outstanding invoices
  • Correspond with clients on past-due accounts
  • Manage accounts receivable to acceptable thresholds
  • Prepare reporting for the Director of Finance & Managing Partner
  • Investigate discrepancies, questions, etc.

Oversee Time & Billing Entry

  • Post time daily
  • Investigate discrepancies, questions, etc.
  • Coordinate with staff on accurate & complete time sheets
  • Audit timesheets
  • Prepare reporting for the Director of Finance & Managing Partner


During our busy periods around tax deadlines, the position may entail other firm-related matters in a teamwork effort to meet client demands.


The job-essential requirements are:

  • Currently pursuing/have a 4-year degree in Business or similar
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and QuickBooks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions well
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to multitask
  • Intellectually curious
  • Flexible, self-starter personality whose personal values coincide
