We are currently seeking a dedicated On-Call Telephone Technician (Tier I) to join our IT and communications team. This entry-level position involves working under general supervision to manage and maintain a variety of communication devices and systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, movement, and changes of telephone equipment, voicemail systems, satellite phones, data-only devices, two-way radio systems, smartphones, and other related telecommunications equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain telephone systems and related equipment.
  • Perform moves, additions, changes, and decommissioning of equipment as required.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues with telephony equipment and hardware.
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment inventory, installation logs, and service histories.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure that all components of the telecommunication systems are functioning efficiently.
  • Provide training and support to users on how to use telephone equipment and communication devices effectively.
  • Respond to emergency calls for system and equipment repair outside of normal business hours.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and keep abreast of new technologies in telecommunication.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further training or certification in telecommunications or related field is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of telecommunication systems including PBX, VoIP, satellite phones, and mobile technologies.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Available to work on call, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with installation and maintenance of radio communication systems or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure and protocols.
  • Technical aptitude and a keen interest in technology.
