The Chemist will provide direct support to production by performing analytical testing, communicating results to operations, and providing oversight for various processes. Candidates with polymer coursework and laboratory experience are encouraged to apply.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform quantitative analysis on intermediate and finished products by use of GC, Molecular Weight Determination, Viscosity, Hardness testing, wet chemical methods and other instrumental methods.
  • Collaborate with Process Chemist, Production Management, and Process Engineer to conduct analysis of action items and data handling.
  • Support investigation of quality and process problems using analytical methods.
  • Work closely with lead investigator for improvement projects (cost savings, new technology development, capacity increasing).
  • Provide analytical support to assist in investigating and determining the cause of trial process and quality problems.
  • Special assignments and projects assigned by the Production Manager.
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Verify all lab results and quickly investigate any anomalies.
  • Properly document results and generate reports.
  • Communicate and work with laboratory, production, quality, and other departmental management to improve processes, investigate production issues, and prepare for internal/external audits.
  • Review, prepare, and write Standard Operating Procedures for laboratory testing and processes.
