Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide training and technical support for robot operators, along with leadership and support of the RCI enhancement process.  And perform as a Class A Welder. 

*Follow all safety regulations for the individual as well as other employees, including keeping the work area clean and in orderly condition as well as wearing all appropriate safety attire for the job that is being performed.

*Assist engineering in trouble shooting.

*Ability to read and understand diagrams and schematics for explanation to customers, suppliers, and Altec associates.

*Provide training for new associates in the technician’s respective areas.

*Facilitate effective interaction, teamwork, and communication with production teams and engineering.

*Assist in the development of routine maintenance procedures to insure optimal machine uptime.

*Assist in the specification, justification, installation and integration of new capital equipment.

*Be recognized as an expert in robotic welding to assist engineering teams on weldment design to facility automated welding processes during new product creation processes.

*Demonstrate the ability to write new programs for weldments and update existing programs in the event of an engineering change.

*Assist engineering with fixture design to optimize the capability of the robot and positioner design as well as reduce the amount of set-ups.

*Perform as a Class A welder. 

Basic Qualifications



Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to present technical information in both verbal and written forms.
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills.
  • Competence with basic office software including email, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Possess good analytical, verbal, and written skills.
  • Must be personable and effectively interact with other associates, divisions, and customers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under a moderate level of supervision.
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability of basic manufacturing/maintenance practices, calculations, and the Altec Production System principles.
  • Occasional travel required.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of coding, software, or PLC’s
  • Knowledge of robotic programming including, but not limited to, Fanuc, ABB, or Universal Robotics


 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work in an environment that is not environmentally controlled, including very hot conditions in the summer months and little heat in the winter. May also include being exposed to high place, using ladders or scaffolds, and working with hazardous equipment and under hazardous conditions on a daily basis. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including earplugs, safety glasses and/or goggles, steel toe boots/shoes, weld helmet, welding gloves, work gloves, and a welding jacket or protective welding sleeves.



EDUCATION:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of job-related experience as a welder and Altec weld certified.
  • Minimum of 2 years of specific job-related experience working with Robotics preferred.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.

TOOLS:

Calipers and other measuring devices, drills, grinders, hammers, saws, sheers.

EQUIPMENT/MACHINES:

Welding machinery, robotic welders, cutting tools, grinder, clamps to hold down steel.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Ability to quickly adjust to new machinery that may not be familiar to the candidate, aptitude to float throughout different automated welding jobs and work on various projects, Pulsarc welding skills, outstanding welding qualities, excel in MIG, TIG and stick welding, ability to use a Pulsarc machine, proficient in reading, writing and mathematics, ability to read blueprints.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

Proficiency with machine coding on and offline, including but not limited to PLC, Fanuc robotics, or WeldPRO, ability to operate and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

  • Ability to successfully complete Basic Robotic Training Program (i.e. Lincoln Electric Automation)
  • Ability to successfully complete Advanced Robotic Training Program (i.e. Lincoln Electric Automation).
  • American Welding Society certified, Altec certified.
  • Training and testing to ensure proper use of a respirator.
