The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for certain aspects of store responsibilities, as assigned by the store manager. They are accountable for all store operations and functions when the store manager is not present. The assistant store manager creates space and removes roadblocks for others to create outstanding results in the business and with their customers. They lead by example and coach others to excellence.

They are responsible for store, warehouse and event activities as defined by the Store Manager, and are accountable for all store operations and results in collaboration with the team and when the Store Manager is absent.


A day in the life of an assistant store manager 

• take full responsibility and accountability for your decisions and the results by setting meaningful and measurable goals that support in achieving Rustler Hat Co vision

  • expect greatness and quality from yourself and others
  • proactively train, coach and develop a team who prioritizes customer connection and provides world-class guest experience
  • oversee and execute initiatives in store as delegated by the store manager to drive daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly goals
  • enroll, delegate and manage the team’s responsibilities with guest experience and inventory in partnership with GM and IM and develop strategies for better workplace efficiency and goal achievement
  • support the store manager in the overall store strategy, provide direction to the team and are responsible for the development of others through ongoing learning, feedback, side by side coaching and performance conversations
  • provide consistent coaching and feedback to hold your team accountable to results
  • address employee and customer concerns 
  • support in leading a profitable store by enrolling the entire team to achieve your sales plan; you utilize company tools to strategically plan and achieve sales targets and manage labor hours; responsible for daily scheduling needs to support the team and customer experience
  • partner with the store manager to understand controllable vs non-controllable expenses and labor management through the ownership of the quarterly sales plan 
  • address employee and customer concerns 
  • Monitor spending patterns and budget
  • fully accountable for and oversee the execution of all deliverables of the Assistant Store Manager and you perform the role responsibilities of a stylist as needed 
  • Help create and foster a respectful and inclusive team environment.

Qualifications: 

  • 2-3 years leadership experience preferred
  • availability must reflect the needs of the business, which may change from time to time. The Store Manager determines the availability needs, and this schedule could include a combination of shift times, including mornings, evenings, and weekends 
  • RHC reserves the right to make amendments to the schedule and/ or availability requirements from time to time and at its sole discretion 
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of post-secondary education will be considered an asset 
  • Applicants are a minimum of 18 years of age 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

  • Hours expectation: 40 hours per week (5 days)
  • You are able and willing to travel by car and air as needed and at the discretion of your Store Manager
