Job Summary: The Quality Manager is a key member of the project management team, serving as the primary onsite quality leader. This role involves understanding client requirements, industry standards and best practices and developing and managing site-specific quality plans that meet or exceed those standards.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop, enforce and serve as the subject matter expert on the site-specific quality management plan, ensuring client expectations and industry standards are met
  • Maintain a robust understanding of contract plans and specifications for assigned projects
  • Monitor and verify the construction process, ensuring adherence to engineering plans, safety requirements and quality control procedures.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, test results, and quality issues. Prepare and submit quality reports to project manager and stakeholders
  • Inspect field conditions and identify concerns, inaccuracies and cost-saving measures. Implement corrective actions as needed
  • Plan, perform and supervise field inspections and tests in accordance with the construction schedule
  • Serve as a liaison between JMS Energy and its clients regarding quality assurance
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with state, local and federal regulations as well as industry standards such as NEC, IEC and UL
  • Identify, document and resolve quality issues or discrepancies. Collaborate with construction teams to develop and implement corrective action plans.
  • Recommend improvements to construction and quality assurance processes to enhance project efficiency and system performance
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers and contractors to ensure quality control processes are integrated into every phase of the construction process
  • Mentor, train and supervise QA/QC inspectors
  • Research and answer questions related to the site-specific quality management plan from craft employees, qa/qc inspectors, field engineers and site leadership
  • Promote and enforce safety standards on-site, ensuring all team members understand and adhere to safety protocols and demonstrating safe behavior
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Certifications in Quality Assurance, Solar Technology or Construction management are advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Construction Industry with 2 years’ experience in solar construction strongly preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Strong client facing and internal communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of quality control methodologies, construction processes and construction industry codes (ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Read, analyze and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts or governmental regulations
  • Write reports, technical specifications, work instructions, procedures, business correspondence and document quality-related issues and activities
  • Ability to coach, mentor and collaborate with staff at all levels to drive continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with principles of quality metrics, lean kaizen, and continuous improvement
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and industry specific software used to complete and retain quality related documentation
  • A solid technical background, with understanding of or hands-on experience with construction systems/software.
  • Ability to work effectively with and provide leadership to a diverse team.


Work Environment:

  • This position involves both office-based tasks and on-site inspections.
  • When working at a job site this role may be exposed to site conditions such as hot or cold temperatures, outdoor elements, dust, fumes and loud noises.
  • On-site work requires adherence to safety regulations and Company policies.
