Job Title: Aviation Firefighter I

Location: Niamey, Niger

Job Type: Full-time

Education: High school diploma / GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Must have 2 years of experience.

Certification Requirements:

  • Firefighter I/II
  • Airport Firefighter
  • Driver/Operator (D/O) Pumper
  • D/O Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting
  • Hazardous Material (HazMat) Operations and HazMat Awareness
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Telecommunicator I and II (Preferred)

Responsibilities:

  • Member of a Fire (ARFF & Structural) Services team that supports services in Fire Operations.
  • Provides aviation firefighting services to minimize loss of life and property in the event of fire.
  • Controls and extinguishes fires using specialized equipment.
  • Operates pumps, foam generators, boom and ground sweeps nozzles, and other similar equipment.
  • Drives vehicle to the scene of fire following predetermined routes or selecting alternate routes when necessary.
  • Maintains accountability and responsibility of all individually assigned personal protective gear.
  • Conducts daily inspections of personal protective gear for serviceability and accountability.
  • Provides assistance on Aircraft Rescue and Structural Firefighting (ARFF & Structural) operations and mission planning.
  • Prepares and conducts training for military personnel on ARFF management operations and equipment.
  • Maintains proficiencies, licenses, and certifications in accordance with applicable regulations and Host Nation guidance.
  • Manages inventories of assigned materials and equipment before, during, and after operations.
  • Plans for shortfalls in materials, equipment, and ARFF capabilities.
  • Plans for movement of materials, equipment, and personnel in support of mobile ARFF operations to various locations.
  • Ensures all fire department members meet training and certification requirements outlined in relevant regulations.
  • Ensure the safety of all firefighters by following proper procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess a standard issue civilian driver’s license.
  • Have a valid US Passport
  • Must have a Secret Security Clearance or be eligible
  • Additional certifications such as D/O Aerial, D/O Mobile Water Supply, and others determined locally based on duty assignments and locally assigned vehicles.
