Job Details

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Fusion Splicer to join our team. As a Fusion Splicer, you will be responsible for efficiently and accurately splicing fiber optic cables using fusion splicing equipment. This role requires precision, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in fiber optic network installations.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform fusion splicing on fiber optic cables to ensure optimal performance and minimal signal loss.
Interpret and follow engineering plans, splice diagrams, and technical specifications.
Conduct fiber optic cable preparation, stripping, cleaving, and splicing operations.
Test and troubleshoot fiber optic systems using optical test equipment (e.g., OTDR, power meters, light sources).
Adhere to safety guidelines and industry standards to maintain a safe working environment.
Maintain accurate records of splicing projects, including splice locations, fiber routes, and test results.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technicians to achieve project objectives and timelines.
Conduct fiber characterization and documentation for network testing and commissioning.
Requirements:

Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Fusion Splicer or similar role.
In-depth knowledge of fiber optic splicing techniques and equipment.
Proficiency in fiber optic cable handling, stripping, cleaving, and fusion splicing.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, splice diagrams, and technical documentation.
Experience with optical testing tools such as OTDR, power meters, and light sources.
Familiarity with fiber optic network standards and best practices (e.g., ITU-T, ANSI/TIA).
Strong attention to detail and precision in fiber splicing and cable management.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot fiber optic issues.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Commitment to safety protocols and practices.
Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in fiber optic splicing (e.g., CFOS/T, CFOT) is desirable.
Previous experience in telecommunications, data centers, or ISP environments.
Familiarity with fiber optic network design and installation processes.
Knowledge of fiber optic fusion splicing software and documentation tools.
