Job Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Materials Testing Technician with 3-5+ years of experience in testing soils, concrete, and asphalt materials. This role involves performing detailed and accurate testing for a variety of construction projects, particularly those related to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials testing, excellent technical skills, and the ability to interpret and report testing results accurately. While specific certifications are not mandatory, they are highly desirable and beneficial for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Testing: Perform field and laboratory tests on soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate materials following industry standards and project specifications.
  • Materials Compliance: Ensure testing complies with FDOT and other relevant standards, focusing on quality assurance for transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Data Interpretation: Analyze test results, generate detailed reports, and provide recommendations for further action based on findings.
  • Equipment Management: Calibrate, maintain, and ensure proper operation of testing equipment and instruments.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to provide reliable testing data for decision-making.
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety protocols and industry regulations.
  • Training & Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior technicians to ensure adherence to testing procedures and quality standards.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Accurately document test procedures, results, and deviations, and submit reports in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in materials testing, including soils, concrete, and asphalt.
  • Strong understanding of materials testing procedures and standards for construction materials.
  • Ability to interpret and accurately report test results.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume testing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to relay test results and collaborate with team members.

Preferred Certifications (Not Required):

  • ACI Aggregate Base Testing Technician
  • ACI Aggregate Testing Technician
  • ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician
  • FDOT CTQP LBR Technician

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods during testing procedures.
