Our company is seeking a dedicated and experienced Permanent Water Well Driller to join our dynamic team. This role involves drilling wells for water supply, irrigation, and geothermal heat systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining drilling rigs and equipment, determining drill methods, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements. This position requires a high level of physical fitness, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Operate drilling machinery and equipment to drill water wells, including determining the need for and use of stabilizers, reamers or pressure drilling.
2. Comply with all safety and environmental regulations, maintaining a clean and safe work area.
3. Perform routine mechanical maintenance on drilling rigs and equipment, including troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and drilling equipment.
4. Interpret geotechnical data, such as borehole logs and soil/rock samples, to determine the best drilling methods and strategies.
5. Install and test borehole instrumentation and monitoring equipment, and perform well development and pumping tests.
6. Collaborate with project managers, geologists, and engineers to ensure drilling operations align with project goals and specifications.
7. Document drilling operations, including recording drilling logs, collecting soil and rock samples, and preparing operation reports.
8. Train and supervise less experienced drillers and drilling crew members.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in water well drilling or a related field.
2. Proven experience with geotechnical drilling methods and interpreting geotechnical data.
3. Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to drilling operations.
4. Strong mechanical skills, including experience with hydraulic systems and diesel engine maintenance.
5. Physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
7. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
8. High School Diploma or equivalent. A degree in a relevant field or professional certification (e.g. National Ground Water Association certification) would be an advantage.
9. Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
10. Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
