IT Systems Administrator

40-hour work week

7am-6pm- flexible hours within each workday

100% Onsite

The Systems Administrator plays a pivotal role in our organization by overseeing the evaluation, development, implementation, administration, and maintenance of all client information systems and equipment. Positioned within the Information Technology Department, this role is crucial for ensuring seamless operations and effective utilization of technology resources. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in core systems, applications, security, and services, enabling them to support the development and enhancement of software application systems in response to evolving needs and service requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot servers, collaborating with other IT teams to resolve technical issues and contribute to IT projects.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding and control of core systems, services, software, and functions within the area of expertise, serving as a subject matter expert.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, addressing user tickets beyond Tier-1 or Tier-2 support and responding to server-related or new project requests.
  • Proficient in rack mounting, installing, configuring, and deploying Windows or Linux servers from scratch, including software installation, VMware integration, security profile setup, and application testing.
  • Execute production tasks assigned by the divisional manager, such as researching, designing, coordinating, planning, and implementing new applications or enhancing existing systems.
  • Ensure service and product quality and efficiency through best practice service delivery, problem resolution, instructional guidance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Communicate effectively through written emails, memos, procedures, and status reports, providing Level-3 support for system and user issues.
  • Stay updated on a variety of deployed technologies, understanding their functionality and application, with proficiency in servers, databases, web services, GIS services, software languages, applications, and tools environments.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and diagrams for both new and existing systems.
  • Act as a software support engineer, consulting with employees and departments on project status, proposals, and technical issues, and overseeing software system testing and validation procedures.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or closely related field.
  • Requires 3-5 years of experience in System administration really doing the work.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft 365 and Azure arena; have extended knowledge of all core Microsoft products, SharePoint, Exchange, Teams, etc. Proficiency in VMware and backup functions.
  • Ability to analyze, extrapolate and deduct complex options and designs to safely and securely manipulate, customize or profile given software environments, operational challenges or functional needs of the organization.
  • Fully proficient in Active Directory and LDAP environments; able to lead or assist infrastructure designs, expansions and security; contributes to determining core standards, governance and operational constraints.
  • Can translate, extract, analyze, and present data, and create ad-hoc reports; fluent with Scripting, Powershell, SQL queuing, Microsoft Excel, Word, and related GIS software necessary to support and communicate.
  • Be fully capable of following standards, managerial directives and policies while demonstrating acute awareness and sensitivity to cyber security requirements of any action, support or activity taken.
  • Excellent communications skills: Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other administrative staff and department heads, subordinates, other Client employees, sales representatives, service personnel, user groups
