We are a seed-stage Generative AI startup focused on revolutionizing enterprise automation. Our mission is to alleviate the burden of mundane, repetitive tasks within businesses, which currently incurs costs exceeding $300 billion annually. Through our flagship product, Fulcrum, we offer a solution that eliminates the necessity for extensive manual labor.


At the core of our offering are AI-powered browser automations (RPA) and document processing tools tailored to enhance efficiency, particularly within insurance and banking back-office operations. Challenges

Our initial focus involves developing an AI-driven platform capable of performing a diverse range of back-office tasks with unparalleled speed, accuracy, and reliability. This endeavor presents a multitude of unique challenges, including:

  1. Pushing beyond the boundaries of current AI research to address complexities surpassing existing benchmarks
  2. Building scalable systems that can effortlessly handle millions of workflow iterations
  3. Solving intricate engineering, architectural, and business challenges


The Founding Engineer Role

As a Founding Engineer at Fulcrum, you will own and lead engineering projects across our various product lines. You will work closely with the founders, enterprise customers, and a world-class technical team to revolutionize the way enterprises operate.


We are looking for individuals who have worked across the stack on incredible products across consumer, enterprise, and various industries and who are excited about building the future of the modern enterprise and GenAI products.


This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use an in-person work model and offer relocation assistance to new employees.


Responsibilities:

  • Integrate traditional SaaS with AI Applications: develop end-to-end features touching all parts of the stack to enable AI workflow and tasks.
  • Zero-to-one product development: rapidly prototype, evaluate, and integrate new product features and custom projects for our customers.
  • Ship clean, well-documented and secure code: implement security concepts to develop software dealing with sensitive data, work with the security teams choosing what to build vs buy.
  • Realize technical breakthroughs to enable novel AI-first workflows: Envision, develop, and deploy scalable software applications utilizing AI and machine learning techniques.


About You:

  • Strong technical experience: 3-4+ years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on AI, machine learning, or related areas. Proficiency in one or more of Python, Typescript, Node, React, Next.js or similar technologies
  • Exceptional problem solver: You have an established strength in problem solving, with a structured and analytical thinking approach.
  • Product mindset: You have a strong product mindset, can put yourselves in the shoes of a user and critically think through UX to ensure releases are well rounded.
  • Bias for action: You strike the right balance in thinking through and executing fast, rather than getting stuck in analysis-paralysis.
  • Exceptional work ethic: You take pride in working extremely hard, and pushing progress at peak velocity
  • Grit: experience working at early-stage startups is a plus.
  • Excited to wear multiple hats : you’re excited to iterate and work with customers, do product and release management all while shipping features fast.


Bonus qualifications:

  • Have experience with AI platforms and technologies, including generative models and LLMs.
  • Previous experience working in an early-stage startup or dynamic environment.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
