HR Compensation Analyst

Our financial services client is seeking a Compensation Analyst to join their team on a long-term, contract basis. Candidates must have strong Excel skills. Additionally, experience preparing job descriptions and conducting compensation research is required.


Location: Downtown Chicago - hybrid

Pay: $25-35/hr (Based on years of direct experience)

Contract length: ~6 months, potential to extend longer

Objective of Position:

The Compensation Analyst is responsible for researching job requirements and evaluating job positions to ensure the company is competitive in the areas of base salaries and short and long-term incentives.

The role will perform analyses to ensure compensation programs and incentives are aligned to attract, engage, and retain talent while driving high performance and strong business results.


Duties and responsibilities:

· Assist with the design of compensation packages and bonus programs to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic plan.

· Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position in the organization; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.

· Assess jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range.

· Calculate short-term incentives in relation to the annual corporate plan as well as monthly and quarterly commissions plans.

· Provides advice to corporate staff on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.

· Develops techniques for compiling, preparing, and presenting data.

· Participates in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved.

· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations.

· Assist in the preparation of accruals for Finance to properly budget for short and long-term incentive expense.

· All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, human resources or related field, preferred.

· 2+ years of progressively responsible experience in employee compensation or related HR field.

· Strong mathematical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate data.

· Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including Excel.

· Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
