Senior Bridge Engineer (PE) - Structural - Houston TX

Halff has an open position for a Senior Bridge Engineer, with a Texas PE License, to join our Structural Engineering team based in our Houston, TX location. This position is for an individual with 5 to 15 years of experience in Bridge Engineering and, preferably, experience in the design of box culverts, sign and signal structures and sheet pile walls. This position will provide a unique opportunity to be involved in conventional bridge design projects, bridge repair and renovation projects, and non-technical tasks such as project management, business development and structures practice building. Structural engineering design and assessment includes a full range of services for horizontal and vertical construction projects. Our licensed engineers pay meticulous attention to safety, serviceability, durability and design efficiency. Project types include buildings, bridges, foundations, retaining walls, hydraulic structures, oil and gas facilities, and marine structures using a variety of construction materials.

Senior Bridge Engineer (PE) - Structural Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible for the management of the complete design of structures projects
  • Will work in a fast-paced environment with longstanding, trusted clients, that require on-site investigations, bridge load ratings and coordination
  • Will be provided with the opportunity to build and lead a bridge design group in the Orlando office
  • Will manage production of design calculations and construction drawings
  • Will review contractor submittals and coordinate with inspection subconsultants during construction
  • Will participate in business development activities
  • Will be responsible for project budgets and schedules
  • As project manager, will coordinate effort with clients as well as in-house engineers and subconsultants
  • Will assist in training and supervising less experienced engineers and designers

Senior Bridge (PE) Engineer - Structural Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Architectural Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
  • Master’s Degree in Civil/Architectural Engineering with a Structural emphasis or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Texas, or able and willing to obtain a Texas PE License within 6 months of start date
  • A minimum of 5 to 15 years of experience in Bridge / Structural Design
  • Experience managing structural design and plan production
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients
  • MicroStation, Revit or AutoCAD training is a plus
