Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Chief Pilot. The Chief Pilot will be responsible for overseeing all flight operations and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and safety protocols. They will manage a team of pilots along with the Director of Operations, conduct monthly CFI meetings, ensure adherence to the training syllabus, and provide flight instruction as necessary.


The Chief Pilot will work as a team with the Director of Operations to ensure that Aerowood Aviation is able to provide a world-class comprehensive training experience from the Private Pilot to the future career pilot. This will include developing and monitoring the syllabus progress of students, standardization of CFI instruction, and being the Chief Instructor in the organization. The ideal candidate would have a varied aviation background that would allow them to mentor and lead the instructor cadre as they look to develop in their professional aviation careers.

Qualifications

  • Be a current or former CFI/CFII/MEI
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours of flight time
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and safety standards
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience with Cirrus aircraft is not required, but is a plus
  • Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot or Training Center Instructor experience is a tremendous plus
  • Bachelor's degree in aviation or related field is also a plus
