Safety Manager

KEY JOB DUTIES:
- Ensure plant compliance to requirements by federal agencies like Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- Safety Procedures: Safety manager assists the safety team and associates to create policies and procedures to help keep associates safe.
- Safety Training: Safety manager delivers the monthly safety training and new hire safety orientations and document that each associate has completed the requirements.
- Documentation: Safety manager ensure that safety-related training records, incident reports and other documents are completed and stored properly.
- Safety Inspections:
o Conduct monthly safety inspections to be sure we are meeting safety requirements and to help identify workplace hazards and correct them before they cause negative outcome events. conduct monthly inspections including fire extinguishers, emergency exits, lights and signs, emergency eye wash and shower units, and storm water inspections.
- Safety Audits:
- Upon completion of associate safety audits report to the plant manager and safety team with the results of the safety audit. Follow up on any action items that result from safety audit findings.
- Assist the Safety Team with the yearly plant safety audit.
- Safety Forms (unsafe act/conditions, audits, checklists, ect.):
- Upon completion of associate safety forms reports to the plant manager and safety team with the results of the safety forms. Follow up on any action items that result from safety form findings.
· Accident Investigation:
o Any time an incident occurs in the workplace, the safety manager investigates. Once safety manager completes incident investigations, they report their findings and work with supervisors and employees to develop plans to prevent similar accidents. The safety manager also has a role in implementing the plan and monitoring the results.
· EHS Audits:
o Conduct quarterly assigned facility safety audits. Audits will include a summary report noting any deviations from the corporate safety program and corrective actions that may be necessary to promote the safety of employees.
COMPETENCIES/SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING PREFERRED:

· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in an EHS related discipline is preferred.
· License/Certification: OSHA 30, HAZPOWER, DOT (Preferred)
· At least three (3) years previous experience working with health and safety program coordination, regulatory compliance, and/or related compliance.
· Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, etc.
· Competent / comfortable with use of information technology.
· Computer literate.
o Proficient with MS Office tools for the purpose of writing reports, communication by email, and analyzing statistics.
· Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
· Have general working knowledge of science, mechanical systems, manufacturing processes and EHS procedures.
