On-Call Telephone Technician

Job Overview:

We are looking for a skilled On-Call Telephone Technician (Tier II) to join our team. This position requires a professional with at least two years of experience in the field of telecommunications. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently, performing installations, moves, changes, and maintenance for a variety of telecommunications equipment, including telephone systems, voicemail, satellite phones, data-only devices, two-way radio systems, and smartphones.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently install, troubleshoot, and maintain telephone and other telecommunication systems.
  • Perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC) duties as required for ongoing projects and user support.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues with telecommunications equipment and systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors and manage service agreements to ensure that all aspects of the telecommunication systems are functional.
  • Provide detailed documentation and reporting on installations, issues, and resolutions.
  • Train end-users on new technologies and provide support for telecommunications equipment.
  • Manage inventory of telecommunications equipment and parts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of hands-on experience in telecommunications or a similar technical role.
  • Strong knowledge of various types of telecommunications equipment, including PBX and VoIP systems.
  • Proven ability to work independently and efficiently manage time and tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in telecommunications, IT, or related field preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with satellite communication systems and two-way radio systems.
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure and protocols.
  • Technical certifications related to telecommunications, such as CompTIA Network+ or similar.
