Job Details

SUMMARY
Maintains production quality by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment in the facility
Other duties as assigned by management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • A good mechanical aptitude and ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC motors, circuits, drives and controls as well as Programmable Logic Controllers, digital and analog controls and relay logic preferred.
  • Detail oriented, maintains neat and orderly work area; properly maintains tools.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical & electro-mechanical systems and practical knowledge of plant electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of automated conveyor systems.
  • Participation in facility maintenance and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Safe handling and use of various chemicals with strict adherence to hazardous communication and SDS requirements.
  • Follow all safety procedures and participate in safety training
    Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person
    Report any injury, accident or unsafe condition immediately to supervisor.
  • Support, and comply with all quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, employee safety, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Inventories spare parts and reports usage; suggests re-orders to Manager.
  • Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.
  • Performs scheduled and emergency maintenance and repair work to equipment and facilities.
  • Consults with departmental foreman regarding repair scheduling and production delays.
  • Makes regular daily visual inspections of equipment and facilities, identifying worn parts & rebuilding machine assemblies, pumps, meters, valves, valve actuators and other equipment.
  • Other duties may be added, deleted or modified at any time, at the discretion of management, via written, verbal, formal or informal means.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES – None

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to read, communicate and understand oral/written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently to complete work orders / projects and respond in a timely manner to calls at the production lines.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and head them off.
  • Ability to work various shifts for training, permanent shift and potential new and/or overtime shifts including mandatory Saturdays when required.
  • Ability to analyze electro-mechanical devices, trouble shoot failures and implement repairs.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel and computerized maintenance management system skills desired.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems or seek assistance in a timely manner and take direction.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently.
  • Ability to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus two or more years Technical School education preferred and an emphasis in electrical and relay technology.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • English required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
    The ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read a scale.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Employee will be subjected to manufacturing environment including hot and cold temperatures, loud noise, dust, dirt and odors, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.

  • Adhere to all company policies, rules and regulations as stated in the Company Employee Handbook, Safety Manual and other Company policies as implemented.
  • This is a drug and alcohol free company.
  • Must be available to work hours as necessary as dictated by prevailing work volumes including mandatory Saturdays when announced.
  • Must present a professional image at all times, representing self and company in a courteous and respectful manner when dealing with customers, vendors, employees and the public.
