About Camp Sewataro: Camp Sewataro is a vibrant summer day camp located in Sudbury, Massachusetts. Set on 50 acres of beautiful woodlands and fields, Camp Sewataro offers a wide range of activities for campers aged 3 to 16. Our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where campers can learn, grow, and create lifelong memories.

Position Summary: The LGT (Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor/ Swim Counselor) at Camp Sewataro is responsible for providing high-quality swim instruction and lifeguard supervision to campers of all ages. This position requires strong swim skills, lifeguard certification, and a passion for teaching and mentoring children in a fun and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Swim Instruction: Teach swimming lessons to campers of varying ages and skill levels, based on the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program.
2. Safety: Ensure the safety of all swimmers by enforcing pool rules, conducting regular swimmer assessments, and maintaining constant surveillance of the pool area.
3. Lifeguarding: Supervise open swim periods, boating activities, and other waterfront activities, adhering to lifeguarding protocols and procedures.
4. Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergencies, administering first aid and CPR as needed, and activating the camp's emergency action plan.
5. Waterfront Maintenance: Assist with the setup and maintenance of waterfront equipment, including docks, boats, and swimming platforms.
6. Camper Engagement: Create a positive and supportive atmosphere that encourages campers to enjoy the water and improve their swimming skills.

Qualifications:

• Lifeguard certification from a nationally recognized organization (American Red Cross, Ellis, etc.) or willing to obtain one (Camp provides a FREE training in June)
• Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Strong swim skills and knowledge of various swim strokes and techniques.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be at least 16 years old.

Schedule: This is a full-time, seasonal position with a commitment of approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Free Transportation from the surrounding MetroWest and Boston area
