The Role: As the Campground Coordinator, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of Lane County’s five campgrounds. This pivotal role works closely with Park Caretakers, Volunteer Hosts, and Park Maintenance to operate and maintain clean, safe, and welcoming campgrounds in Lane County Parks. Your contributions will help to enhance visitor experience and directly impact the quality of life for countless individuals who seek recreation and relaxation in our parks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operations: Overseeing the maintenance and operations of five Lane County Parks campgrounds.
  • Recruitment: Recruiting and hiring passionate Park Caretakers and Volunteer Hosts to assist in the operation and maintenance of campgrounds.
  • Training: Providing a comprehensive training and orientation program to ensure that Park Caretakers and Volunteer Hosts are prepared for their roles and understand their responsibilities.
  • Supervision: Supervising Park Caretakers and Volunteer Hosts to ensure a high level of customer service and enhanced visitor experience.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Building positive relationships and directing coordination between Park Caretakers, Volunteer Hosts, and park staff to ensure seamless campground operations from reservation to check-out.
  • Communication: Engaging in effective communication and problem solving with Park Caretakers, Volunteer Hosts, park staff, and the public to address issues and resolve conflicts.
  • Program Enhancement: Seeking opportunities to improve the visitor experience, in alignment with the goals of the County and Lane County Parks.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Actively participating in promoting diversity within the workplace.

About the Division

Lane County Parks provide opportunities for year-round recreation in some of the region's most beautiful natural areas. There are abundant trails for hiking and biking, ocean beaches and covered bridges to photograph and explore, and lakes and rivers to fish and float. Visitors and residents come to camp, fish, picnic, and play. Lane County Parks hosts over three million visitors per year at 68 recreational sites that total over 4,300 acres. These sites offer access to rivers and reservoirs, trails and picnic areas, and a variety of camping options from the coast to the Cascades.


Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm

Training & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to area of assignment; and sufficient experience as necessitated by the competency level of the position. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • 0-2 years of professional experience; entry level for incumbents with Bachelor's degree.

DRIVER’S LICENSE
Must be in possession of a valid driver's license at time of application, and a valid Oregon Driver's license by time of appointment.
