AIT Optics Technician

The optics technician will participate in the areas of handling, characterizing, cleaning, assembling, aligning and supporting optical and opto-mechanical works inside our space lasers. The Optics technician will work closely with the members of the Optics group to support all the functionality of the Terminals and instruments as a key element.

Duties:

  • execution of optical assemblies and integration
  • execution of functional system level tests
  • and quality control of received components
  • in optical systems characterization and alignment
  • in lab equipment maintenance and calibration
  • and support opto-mechanical tasks, as test setup assembly, metrology measurements, cleaning of optics, mechanism checks.

Minimum Skills Requirements:

  • of optical surface cleaning
  • command of English and/or Spanish
  • to manipulate cleaning agents and chemical products
  • to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment
  • writing technical reports and following procedures in English
  • spirit

Preferred Experience/Skills/Ability:

  • of optical measurement devices (power meters, beam profiler, polarimeter)
  • of laser source operation and safety
  • optical lab or mechanical shop metrology experience

Required Education:

A technical degree in Physics and photonics/Engineering field (preferably in Optics and/or mechanics) or relevant experience

Nice to Haves:

  • optical lab or mechanical shop metrology experience
  • of Opto-mechanics
  • years experience in a similar position
